Help me help our children... Book Drive and Storytelling.

Pearlan says, "At a time when our children need to be enjoying the enchantment of the holidays, their world has been shattered by all the horrifying events that have taken place over these last weeks. Their visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads have been replaced with thoughts of fear, sorrow and disillusionment from "the despicable bogeyman" who has stripped their minds of feeling safe, secure and protected. Families are going deeper and deeper into self-induced trances from the stresses that have hit on all angles- Our basic needs have been stripped from many- loss of homes, loss of food, loss of clothing, loss of jobs, loss of mental health, and now the biggest and most heartfelt loss of all is the loss of our children and those who cared for them. - An ultimate loss of feeling in control in our homes, in our jobs, in our own schools, anywhere and everywhere.

Mother Nature is speaking loudly with the hurricane that just hit. The Universe is shifting, spiraling, rotating and pulsating in unfamiliar territory, and the cacophony of voices is deafening. This is a time when we need not turn inward or worse, on one another, but rather a time to turn towards one another for solace, support and wellbeing. People are grasping at what to do to make this all better for our children. The Band-Aid, the kiss on the forehead, the loving hug may have worked in the past but no longer, as the trauma in us all is way beyond any dis-ease we have ever imagined. Decisions are being made from many angles to bring back some semblance of control to help us all move forward and rise above it. Right now, we must do whatever it takes to help our children remain child-like. We must help them to rally their inner resources that allow them to not just survive but thrive, now and for all times. Every effort adds to the empowering of our children, families and ultimately society."

To make a difference for our children, Pearlan Feeney-Grater is establishing a book drive at The Self Center, Winchester, MA in conjunction with World Hypnotism Day, Massachusetts that takes place on January, 6, 2013, also the date of "Little Xmas". This effort focuses on our children first, as we bring back the feelings of what Dr Herbert Benson calls "remembered wellness" in their minds.

Pearlan says, "Think back to a time of being read to as you drifted off into a wonderful, comforting sleep. Remember the stories that made you feel so relaxed, focused and peaceful, from the voice of someone we trusted-A voice that allowed us to achieve a natural meditative state to rest, nap, sleep, drift, and dream of better days ahead. Right now we need to find those stories, find those words, and find our voices that give our children the hope of a tomorrow, as they deserve. We need to replace their fears with feelings of peace, comfort and joy."

To secure this effort, starting today, there will be a book drop off at The Self Center, 805 Main Street, Winchester, MA. Add a short inscription with words of encouragement signed by you. Place your name and a contact email or number to receive Whether you bring a book or mail a book, we are considering books that focus on understanding loss, anger, fear… books that give hope, empowerment and control once again to our children and families. It can be a book for any age that helps us to secure our footing once again. Pearlan says, "Imagine no looking back... no rewinding... no need to watch our backs... knowing with certainty we have within us the strength to move through the challenges of life. I challenge each and every one of us to step up to the plate and give us your best hit in helping self and others to live again, laugh again, and feel again… to feel self-regulated, balanced and whole, regardless of what is happening outside of us. Our inner GPS awaits new mapping. Together we will experience the twists and turns of life in a way that keeps us on our path, moving in the direction that is right for each and every one of us, as we clear the path for one another. Let our stories be the maps to "take the high road" together and ascend above it all."

Books will be collected up until January 6, 2013 to provide a "Little Xmas", as the children of Connecticut deserve. On January 5, Pearlan invites children of all ages and their parent(s) to come to The Self Center from 2:00-3:00, to settle down and settle in to a wonderful self-empowering hour of storytelling created by Pearlan just for our children.

Then on January 6, if you attend our World Hypnotism Day Massachusetts event at The Hilton, Woburn MA, drop off a book from 10:00a-4:00p to receive 3 free raffle tickets for a drawing of services and/or empowering gifts as a thank you for helping us help the children. All books will be delivered to the children of the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Connecticut to help their families and teachers with the effort of restoring inner strength and resiliency through story-telling. A list of recommended book is available on Pearlan’s Blog-pearlan.blogspot.com/. As Christopher Morely stated, "When you give someone a book, you don’t just give him paper, ink and glue. You give him the possibility of a whole new life." We owe it to our kids to make this happen in whatever way possible, now- not just as a single effort for the children of Newtown, Connecticut but for every child across the nation. Help me make this a reality.
